About us

Crisis Coaching Collective was founded by Oscar Schamotta after he experienced the transformative nature of professional coaching after a crisis. He was so inspired by his experience that he decided to train as a coach and is now an EMCC Accredited Practitioner Coach.

He noticed that there is a gap in the provision of low or no-cost support for individuals who have experienced crisis, transition or loss. Often there is immediate support by a large network of charities during the crisis, and it is possible to receive therapy through the NHS if there are residual or growing mental health problems as a result of the experience.  However, professional coaching, a particularly effective intervention when moving forward from a crisis, is often quite costly and currently not available as a referral option through the NHS.

Unlike therapy, which focuses on understanding past behaviours and patterns and can take many months to have an effect, coaching is forward-focused, and a few sessions can be highly effective.

Although coaching acknowledges the impact of the crisis, and allows space for sharing the story, and acknowledging the impacts and the emotions involved, it has a future focus and encourages the client to find inner resources, build resilience and insight and to then develop strategies, goals, meaning and motivation in order to move forward.

Crisis Coaching Collective is a Community Interest Company that aims to fill this gap in support and offer time-limited trauma-informed coaching interventions for those who need it the most, at a time when they are unlikely to be able to invest in such support.  The collective is made up of a growing network of independent professional coaches, who adhere to their professional body’s code of ethics (either ICF or EMCC), mentored and trained by experienced coach, mentor and consultant Dr Landa Magdalene Love.

Oscar’s vision is to build a sustainable and inspiring community-focused social enterprise that is run largely by executives who, like himself, are under the age of 30. He hopes to offer young people the chance to develop a meaningful career utilising the skills they have worked hard to achieve during their time as students and early career professionals. Landa Magdalene Love PhD, MSc, FCIM, EMCC is acting Chair of Crisis Coaching Collective, overseeing and advising on the development of the CIC in its formative stages. She sees this as her chance to pass on all the skills and insight she has gained over the course of her long career in coaching, education and business to the next generation of coaches and socially minded business professionals.

Crisis Coaching Collective is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company limited by guarantee without share capital. Registered in the UK – company number 17298318.
